Hospital-based postpartum and newborn care in the United States typically consists of only one newborn visit at 2 weeks and one postpartum visit for the birthing person at 6 weeks. That’s it! It’s no wonder that the standard U.S. model of care ranks poorly on healthy outcomes for growing families. Soft Corner is here to change the game and rewrite what standard postpartum care should look like.

So much transition takes place in those first few days and again in the following weeks after having a baby and Soft Corner aims to truly nurture the fourth trimester.
We’re following international evidence-based care plans with our Postpartum Care Plan. Licensed Midwives are considered primary care providers for babies in this early time frame, so care includes comprehensive and holistic baby care, as well as assessing your postpartum recovery up to 8 weeks.
We offer six 1 hour visits for both you and your baby over this 8-week period. The first three take place in the comfort of your home and the last three take place back at our office. IBCLC Lactation Consultant and Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy visits are included in care. With these combined home and clinic visits, as well as an integrative team of care providers, we’re hoping to rewrite what true postpartum support should look like.
Home-based care offered in the first week postpartum allows your family time to recover and bond. We proudly offer this in-depth service for you and your baby. Immune systems can be fragile at this time, but staying at home allows microbiomes to strengthen and illness exposure to be limited.
Don’t worry, you’ve also always got a “midwife in your pocket”, as your midwife remains available 24 hours a day for urgent matters throughout care.
Once back at the clinic, we will continue postpartum support through to a full well body care visit at 6 weeks. Your care then includes a pelvic floor assessment by Root to Rise Physical Therapy at 8 weeks.
While this model of care looks pretty different from other providers, we firmly believe this is what postpartum care should look like for everyone.
Postpartum is All About Nourishment
If you nourish yourself and your family during this time, you can lay the groundwork for not only confident parenthood beyond postpartum, but also for strong relationships, lasting physical and mental health, and overall family wellness.
It’s important to remember that not every postpartum experience looks the same. Individualized care is best during postpartum. A care team of holistic providers—including midwives, lactation specialists, and/or pelvic floor therapists—can tailor support to you and help you use this wild and transformative time to set the stage for all of the next chapters of life.
