Pregnancy

Soft Corner proudly offers individualized one hour family-friendly prenatal care visits. In a loving in respectful environment, you’ll have the space to discuss your personal and family concerns during pregnancy. Education-based visits include discussing upcoming diagnostics and tests available, so you always have ample time to make decisions for your family. We also integrate care with a holistic nutritionist, lactation consultant support, and comprehensive childbirth education Birth Prep classes in your prenatal care package. This is what care should look like! You’ll also have 24/7 access to your midwife team through a messaging and phone system, so you are seen, heard, and taken care of between your scheduled appointments as well.

Labor and Birth

Soft Corner is proud to offer birth services in the comfort of your own home or our beautiful Birth Center. But truthfully your early labor support begins before we’ve even settled into either location. Before your midwife even arrives at your home (or you arrive at the birthing center), you will have had close contact throughout early labor. During labor, fetal heart tones and vitals will be assessed, ensuring everyone is coping well with labor. You are encouraged to eat, move and rest as inclined. Support and affirmation will be provided throughout labor to suit your individual needs. Families and partners are welcome to be involved in the process. In the immediate postpartum period, we will assess everyone’s transitions and recovery, provide breastfeeding support, complete a comprehensive newborn exam and then tuck everyone into bed.

A better approach

for better outcomes.

Postpartum and Newborn

So much transition takes place in those first few days and again in the following weeks. Midwives in Maine are considered primary care providers for birthing people and newborns. During postpartum we treat the two like a dyad, still interwoven and connected to one another. Soft Corner aims to nurture the fourth trimester. Home based care offered in the first week postpartum allows your family time to recover and bond. We proudly offer this in depth service for you and your baby. Immune systems can be fragile at this time, but staying at home allows microbiomes to strengthen and illness exposure to be limited. Our visit schedule is wildly different than standard care in the US…thats on purpose! Research shows babies and birthing people have better outcomes with more strategic support! Soft Corner care includes at home care with a lactation consultant and seeing a pelvic floor specialist for physical therapy, on top of regular visits with your midwives. It’s a total dream!
